This is a unique item that’s almost impossible to find, and we have only two of them, BRAND NEW and UNUSED. Exactly this mirror sold for $2,760 (the winning bid) on a online auction. The Performer takes a wooden hand mirror from its case an displays it on both sides. He covers one side with a silk handkerchief and then an image of two red roses appears in the mirror. Now with soft music the performer receipts a poem about life and death while the roses begin to slowly change color from red to white. Covering the mirror with the handkerchief again the performer apparently removes the roses from the mirror as the image in the mirror once again vanishes. The Hofzinser Rose mirror is one of the most celebrated effects in magic. It has been reproduced by several manufacturers. I think the Gard Version is the best of its kind. To begin with, it is a manual version replicating the Hofzinser Mirror’s workings. It is a large size able to be seen from the largest stage. The shading and greenery surrounding the blossoms is heated to a high temperature. This process insures the image will not peel off or deteriorate over time, Like all quality items, it is built to last. To be biologically accurate, the image of the roses is based on a rose painting by the greatest botanical illustrator of all time Pierre Joseph Redoute (1759_1840). The workings are perfectly shaded to give the most accurate slow turn of the color of the roses. The roses can be turned back to red in the routine if you wish. The case is eloquent as well. Gard Magic (Czech Republic) did a magnificent job here as is typical with most of their items. The mirror is of the highest quality made of wood and glass and arrives in a presentation case that is also used in the effect. This is closer in method to the original mirror used by Hofzinser as there are no clockwork motors used. It is easy to set and use and there is nothing to go wrong.
